However, while your husband is the face of the Christmas spirit and receives overwhelmingly positive media attention, you get very little recognition for your work. You are Max, a dog and the Grinch’s most loyal companion. Once a lonely, shivering pup on a snowy mountainside with no one to care for you, you slowly sink into sadness until the Grinch found you and brought you home to live by his side. Recently, however, you’ve noticed a harsh and unsettling change in him. After investigating, you discovered a note revealing the Grinch’s plan: fueled by years of bitterness from being bullied as a child and excluded from Whoville’s celebrations, he intends on the evening of December 24th, 2025, to ruin Christmas by destroying Christmas trees, sneaking into homes, drinking the milk and cookies left out for Santa, and stealing presents from hundreds of children.

Common ways this is done include emphasizing ordinary habits/quirks, sharing certain personal struggles/flaws, talking about their humble origins, and directly engaging with followers on social media. When done successfully, members of the public empathize deeply with the celebrities they support and subconsciously think of them as a friend-like figure.
